Carolina Attorneys There is a reason we named our website “Carolina Attorneys.” We help people in both North Carolina and South Carolina with their legal issues. And we’d love to help you through your time of need.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, we provide legal representation across the state lines.

Frankly, it doesn’t matter if you have a felony or misdemeanor charge or face allegations of DUI or DWI or some other impaired driving offense, our criminal lawyers are available for consultation.

“We’re dedicated to providing sound legal advice, predicated on compassion, hard work, and dedication to your best interests. There is no substitute for courtroom experience, which is one of our strengths as a law firm.”

– Bill Powers, Defense Attorney

Where Do You Practice Law?

We provide legal services to numerous different judicial districts in the Carolinas to people facing legal troubles.

If you’re worried about facing the judge in court, not knowing what to do, we’re willing to stand side-by-side with you, advocating for your interests. Our law firm is what attorneys may refer to as a multi-jurisdictional, multi-practice group.

That’s because we help people with both criminal charges as well as certain civil legal issues, including family law, car accidents, and even alienation of affection claims.

We’re courtroom lawyers. We enjoy litigation. And as such, we prefer not to limit ourselves to simply one type of client or one type of case.

Bill Powers started his legal career as a criminal lawyer. Indeed, to this day he’s a Board-Certified Criminal Defense Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.

We purposely don’t limit ourselves to solely criminal charges in Charlotte or DUI in South Carolina.

We take a wholistic approach, fully understanding there may be consequences to a South Carolina driver license because of DWI charges in NC. That’s also true for accident cases, things like separation and divorce, and Charlotte family law issues.

“We like people to think of us as their family attorney, where you can call for help on a wide range of different legal issues. Even if it turns out we’re unable to give advice, we’re often able to point our clients in the right direction and help them find an attorney who can.”

Bill Powers, Carolina Attorney

All our attorneys are licensed to practice law in NC. We also have an attorney, that being Mr. Chris Beddow, who also is a licensed South Carolina lawyer.

Chris is solely responsible for legal issues in South Carolina.

South Carolina

Bill Powers began his private practice of law in Charlotte NC; yet, he has spent years traveling throughout North Carolina, helping clients with complex legal matters involving things like Murder, Manslaughter, Domestic Violence, DWI charges, Car Accidents, Semi-Truck Wrecks, etc.

We’re licensed to practice law in any county in the state. We focus less on the jurisdiction and more on the needs of the client.

To be clear, we are not a referral agency or lawyer referral service. That’s not what we do.

As a former President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the largest voluntary association of Plaintiff’s Lawyers (personal Injury attorneys), Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Family Law Attorneys in North Carolina, he had the opportunity to represent, as President, and work with literally thousands of lawyers throughout North Carolina helping educate attorneys and enhance the practice of law.

Through his work as the President of NCAJ, legal recognitions, lecturing for different schools and civic groups, teaching continuing legal education, and legal writing (including the NC DWI Quick Reference Guide), Bill Powers is well-known throughout North Carolina.

Together with 26 years practicing in many different jurisdictions throughout North Carolina, he knows a lot of lawyers.

Bill Powers is more than willing to share his years of experience to provide information, direction, and when appropriate, serve as legal counsel.

If he or one of our other attorneys cannot help, it’s possible we may know someone who can and perhaps refer you to an attorney better-suited for your needs.

“Ultimately, we enjoy helping people. Sometimes that means serving as your attorney. Other times, it may require takings a few minutes to find another lawyer or law firm for a client.”

– Bill Powers

So, while we do tend to handle a lot of maters in the Charlotte-metro region, which includes criminal cases in Monroe, Statesville, Salisbury, Gastonia, York County, and Rock Hill, we’ll also travel.

The laws in North Carolina are the same in Murphy as they are on the Outer Banks. We have a company vehicle for a reason: We’re willing to jump in the car and help during difficult times. We love living and working with clients in the Carolinas.

If you have a serious criminal charge, if you face allegations of a felony death by vehicle, or murder or some type of sex crime, we may be able to help. Bill Powers has traveled extensively throughout North Carolina, arguing cases in both District Court and Superior Court.

We offer a free consultation for criminal charges, traffic tickets, and NCDMV issues. Everything you tell us and our lawyers and support staff is highly confidential. Criminal lawyers keep secrets.

★★★★★
I am so fortunate to have had Bill Powers on my case. Upon our first meeting, Bill insisted that through the emotions of anger, sadness, confusion, and betrayal that I remain resilient. He was available to answer questions with researched, logical, truthful answers throughout our two year stretch together... J.R.
★★★★★
Bill Powers and his firm were a true blessing. If anyone is contacting an attorney, it's more than likely not from a positive life experience. If there was a rating for "bedside manner" for lawyers he'd get a 10/10 for that as well. The entire staff were helpful... K.C.
★★★★★
Bill Powers’ staff has handled several traffic citations for me over the years, and they exceeded my expectations each and every time. Would highly recommend anyone faced with a traffic citation or court case contact his office and they will handle it from there. M.C.
★★★★★
Bill and his staff are flat out great. I (unfortunately) was a repeat customer after a string of tickets. These guys not only took care of the initial ticket for me, but went the extra mile and reduced my problems from 3 to just 1 (very minor one) on the same day I called back! I would recommend them to anyone. A.R.
