Mountain Magic 2014

Bill Powers, Vice President of Communications for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, invites you to Mountain Magic 2014.  “NCAJ does an absolutely fabulous job with Continuing Legal Education.  Mountain Magic 2014 promises to be an engaging opportunity to learn and for lawyers throughout the state to network, to socialize and to spend time getting to know one another.”

Mountain Magic 2014

Mountain Magic is smack dab in the middle of the best part of the year to watch the leaves change.  It also is smack dab in the middle of some of the Best Lawyers in North Carolina.  If you want to learn, mingle and get to know leaders in the law, register now.

The Omni Grove Park offers spectacular views!  The North Carolina Advocates for Justice have worked very hard to provide outstanding legal education materials, while also recognizing the desire to socialize and network with other legal professionals.  Bill adds, “I frankly enjoy just sitting on one of the incredible porches, looking over the vistas with a glass of wine.  Mountain Magic is a time to relax.  It’s a time to regroup and catch up with friends.  My wife Sammie and I have attended for years and always enjoy everything NCAJ does to make it a memorable experience!”

Dates:  Thursday, October 16, 2014 until Sunday, October 19, 2014

Where:  Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa – Asheville, North Carolina

800.438.5800 or 828.252.2711 and ask for the NC Advocates for Justice group rate of$299 single/double.  BLOCK RATE VALID UNTIL SEPTEMBER, 12, 2014

MAP & DIRECTIONS

Spa Reservations book VERY quickly.  Day passes are available, but are also limited.  One of the best “bangs for the buck” is a manicure (or pedicure), which allows for daylong access.  Take some time off.  Relax.  Sit it the mineral baths.

Killer Restaurants in the area.  Tell ’em Billy sent you:

12 Bones – Word is POTUS flies them to Washington, DC on a regular basis.  Blueberry Chipolte Rack with Jalapeno Grits & Greens.  Lord Almighty.  On the banks of the French Broad River.

Salsas – NOT the Mexican, Chips & Salsa chain.  South American “El Carribe” fusion joint known for the Ginger Hibiscus Tea and Curry Hot Pots.

The Lobster Trap –  Yep, it ain’t all Local.  They do fly in fresh lobster from Maine daily.  Billy does a house brew.  Check out the Wicked Good Lobster.  Also FABO place just for apps and local bands.

Curate Spanish Grille – Dig Tapas?  Dig it.  All things pork, potato and vibrant reds.

Chai Pani – LEGIT Indian Street Food.  Check out the Fried Okra Fries with Salt and Lime.

Cucina 24 – Locally Sourced Italian.  Great olives, cheeses, wines and generally cool “foodie” place that could easily be confused for French Bistro.

Cool Places to Hang & Shop:

The Orange Peel – Remember Social Relevance?  It’s still possible.  The Orange Peel is considered one of the premier, “must do” venues for the best-of-the-best music acts (not necessarily hipster).  Check out Kacey Musgraves, whom is playing there October 18, 2014.

Blue Ridge Parkway – Craggy Gardens

The Chocolate Fetish – Great place for desert. . .and gifts for the family.  Chocolate High Heels are a favorite of my 13-year-old.

Shoes:

Topps – Ok, here’s the deal.  If you’re a dude, go to one store, look at all the options and get your year done in less than 1/2 hour.  If you’re not a dude, you already know about this place.

Stiletto Heels & Cowboy Boots – Seriously, go to Chocolate Fetish.

Breweries:

Asheville has a TON of cool micro-brew options.  Seriously, don’t complain about options.
