Caroline Strauss is an associate family law attorney at the Powers Law Firm PA and is a licensed attorney in the State of North Carolina.

Caroline has extensive experience in family law issues involving the distribution of marital assets, child custody, and support.

Prior to joining our team of divorce lawyers, Caroline operated her own law firm, serving primarily as a family law attorney in Charlotte.

She now helps people in the Charlotte-metro region, including Mecklenburg County Family Court, Union County, and Iredell County.

Caroline prides herself in her level-headed, professional approach to family law litigation.

She is a zealous, compassionate advocate for her clients.

Our law firm is dedicated to hard work, empathy, and the individual needs of clients.

Caroline brings that and more to the table.

"Family law is a notoriously complex area of law. Whether you have a complicated ED (Equitable Distribution) issue or a substantial disagreement regarding custody or support, I want to help."

Dedicated Courtroom Advocacy

The Powers Law Firm has a reputation for trial skills and tenacity in the courtroom.

We are courtroom lawyers and will, as required, litigate a matter to conclusion.

Sometimes you cannot reason with an opposing spouse who wishes to be vindictive, dishonest, or whose modus operandi is to proceed in bad faith.

We’re not afraid to say, “We’ll see you in court.”

Collaborative Divorce Lawyer

Our firm is dedicated to the best-interests of clients and their families.

We believe courtroom battles over child custody and support often prove harmful to the children of a marriage.

Our Charlotte Divorce Lawyers are proponents of Collaborative Divorce and the Collaborative Law Process.

Divorce cases are different.

The dissolution of a marriage may involve anger, resentment, and feelings of betrayal.

Even in the best of circumstances, when the parties wish to split amicably, separation and divorce can be an emotionally difficult process.

Determining what is a fair division of marital assets, whether alimony is appropriate, and who has legal or physical custody of children can prove divisive.

Unlike matters we handle involving Criminal Conversation and Alienation of Affection in North Carolina, family law matters should not involve punitive measures.

We believe children are not tools to be used or threatened as a part of litigation.

Your best-interests, and those of your children, are fundamental to our work as divorce lawyers.

Mother, Wife, and Lawyer

Prior to joining Powers Law Firm PA as a family law attorney, Caroline spent several years as a stay-at-home mother to her two young children.

She believes this gives her a special appreciation of the difficulties of parenting, potential areas for disagreement, and the effect a separation and divorce might have on the lives of the entire family.

"Even in well-adjusted, loving relationships there can be disagreements about the best way to parent a child. Our approach to family law involves a healthy dose of reality and understanding just how hard divorce can be."

- Caroline Strauss, Family Law Attorney

Caroline was born in Charlotte and raised primarily in Greenville, South Carolina.

She attended Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law.

While in law school, she was an intern for the Council for Children’s Rights in Charlotte and the Children’s Law Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

Caroline was also honored to receive the AmeriCorps Equal Justice Works Fellowship and the McMillian Fellowship during law school at the USC School of Law.

In her spare time, Caroline enjoys spending time with her family and cheering-on the Clemson Tigers and Carolina Panthers.

Why are You a Divorce Lawyer?

Divorce law is a fulfilling way to help people in their daily lives. Family law is incredibly complex and an intellectually challenging advocation.

Each day serving as a lawyer is different and unique. I enjoy mixing it up in court, promoting justice, and providing trustworthy legal advice.

I understand no two clients are exactly alike. Our focus as a team of divorce lawyers involves meeting clients at the point of need.

We are collaborative lawyers, both in our office operations and how we prefer to proceed in court. Collaborative divorce is the way to go, when possible.

Cantankerous and divisive litigation are not in the best-interests of the client. Protracted court battles are extremely expensive, burdensome affairs.

Courtroom lawyers enjoy court, clients do not.

Effective advocacy requires challenging traditional norms, and biases, while doing so in a kind manner.

That defines success to me as a family law attorney.

Client Reviews
★★★★★
I am so fortunate to have had Bill Powers on my case. Upon our first meeting, Bill insisted that through the emotions of anger, sadness, confusion, and betrayal that I remain resilient. He was available to answer questions with researched, logical, truthful answers throughout our two year stretch together. I went to any lengths for my case because he won my trust almost immediately... J.R.
★★★★★
My daughter had a second DUI and when it all seemed hopeless, Bill was able to get the charges dropped. This is a man who is extremely knowledgeable, yet still keeps his integrity which was impressive to me. He handles himself with dignity. If you hire him, you will have the best of the best, along with his expansive intellect and wisdom about the law. Lisa
★★★★★
Bill Powers’ staff has handled several traffic citations for me over the years, and they exceeded my expectations each and every time. Would highly recommend anyone faced with a traffic citation or court case contact his office and they will handle it from there. M.C.
★★★★★
Bill and his staff are flat out great. I (unfortunately) was a repeat customer after a string of tickets. These guys not only took care of the initial ticket for me, but went the extra mile and reduced my problems from 3 to just 1 (very minor one) on the same day I called back! I would recommend them to anyone. A.R.
